Problem

Concrete has to be tested at fixed times after it is poured. Producers with several plants, many projects and many mix designs were tracking those tests in spreadsheets, and reports were being missed. When a report is late the data is worthless, so this is a business where the calendar matters as much as the numbers.

What I built

• A dashboard that opens on what matters today: reports overdue, reports due today, active projects. Filterable by plant, customer and project.
• Records for projects, plants, mix designs, suppliers, customers and test samples, linked so that a single sample can be traced back to its plant, mix and project.
• The reporting itself: strength results per sample, summary stats (characteristic strength, average, standard deviation) and charts, so the quality team can see drift before it becomes a problem.
• Email notifications through SendGrid for due and overdue reports, and Stripe for subscriptions.
• A responsive layout so field staff can add reports from a phone.

Results

Reports stopped being missed because the app now nags at the right moment, and the data was modelled so that trends by plant, mix or supplier can be pulled without any rework.
