Problem
The founders wanted to make it easy for anyone to record a relative's life story and end up with a physical book, without the person doing the recording needing to write well or know anything about publishing.
What I built
- A guided flow that walks the user through a life story chapter by chapter, with prompts to answer by typing or by recording their voice in the browser.
- Voice recordings transcribed and lightly cleaned up with OpenAI, then placed into the chapter so the user edits text rather than starting from a blank page.
- Book assembly: chapters, photos and layout choices collected into a print-ready order.
- Stripe checkout and the hand-off to printing and delivery, with order status visible to the user.
- Marketing site and app in the same Bubble project, so content and product stayed in sync.
Results
More than 250 books have been created and delivered through the app: a complete path from "start a life story" to a finished book at the door, built without a developer team.
